Azat Ötepbay
The founder of Ailat and an advocate for the development of Islamic finance in Kazakhstan. His interest in ethics and social responsibility within this field began while writing his thesis.
career
Azat started his career at a bank specializing in small and medium-sized business loans and then worked at a large metallurgy company in the budgeting and control department. Later, he led a transport company providing B2B services and outsourcing for five-star hotels, where he explored the potential of Islamic leasing.
AIFC
At the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), Azat gained unique experience in regulatory affairs, serving as head of the registration department. This experience became the foundation for creating OD Consulting, through which he implemented a number of successful projects, including the launch of the first Islamic index in Kazakhstan in 2023.
startup Ailat
In 2024, Azat founded the fintech startup Ailat, specializing in ethical financial products. His work is focused on societal development through innovative solutions in Islamic finance.
